Perfection Wasn't the Goal

The last several months have reminded me that a plan is not only useful when everything goes as hoped. It's crucial in helping you return to center when life knocks you off track.
Earlier this year illness disrupted all of the healthy rhythms I had established. As I worked to get well and regain momentum, while also adjusting to a team member going out unexpectedly with a severe health issue, I reaped the benefit of building in buffers and staggering projects deadlines. Although they didn't cover the complete gap created by COVID and loss of a team member, it gave me a bit of breathing room to adjust and refocus when I returned to office and worked to keep commitments to clients.
I was living the Pray Plan Profit framework in real time:
PRAY helped me clarify my goals.
PLAN helped me clearly outline the process for client projects.
PROFIT helped me prioritize project responsibilities and outcomes.
All centered on scripture. All geared to progress one step, one day at a time for long-term profit.
COVID showed me the true test of a planning system isn't if it helps you sketch out a flawless year. It's if it helps you return to what matters most when life doesn't go as expected.
It was then the lesson became clear. It isn’t whether you have a perfect year; it’s how you navigate the planned and unplanned moments without losing focus, momentum, or yourself.
The P3 framework, based on scripture, is what helped me stay grounded in business when everything around me changed without notice. It definitely lived up to me calling it a CEO Operating System.
As I finish the last written client plan on my plate (a development strategy for a neighborhood in Dallas) I am about to start using the planner for Q3. Yes it's after July 1st, but it's still the perfect time because I'm ready to be intentional about it.
I am so excited to have a designated reset and way to refine my focus for the next three months.
That is why I am inviting a small group of leaders to Plan With Me for the remainder of this quarter.
Plan With Me is a guided quarterly leadership experience—not a course, coaching program, or challenge.
Together, we will use the Pray Plan Profit™ CEO Planner, meet for three live planning sessions, troubleshoot challenges, and close the quarter with reflection and celebration.
Participants will receive:
Three live, virtual, group planning sessions
Email access for planner-related questions
One end-of-quarter reflection and celebration session
A supportive community of leaders committed to intentional growth
The founding participant investment is $65.
This first experience is limited to an intimate group of up to 10 leaders.
Consider this your official invitation to join and plan with me for July, August, and September (Q3).
Already purchased the Pray Plan Profit™ Planner? I would also value your honest feedback about your experience, whether you used the planner consistently, occasionally, or not at all. SURVEY COMING SOON
Thank you for continuing to trust me as a partner on your CEO journey. I’m looking forward to connecting deeper this year as we find new ways to Live + Lead Well.
That's all for now, but if you need anything before my next message, remember I'm always one email away.
With Joy In Purpose,
Dr. Lorin R. Carter
