But First, A Nap...

One of the things I prayed for this year was for God to align my actions with

His Will. Now you know God doesn't give us the entire playbook (I'm doing good to get a sticky note of directions lol), but He does provide His Peace as a guide.

As I prepared to start, I knew it would require me to accept God's Will and surrender my own. It would require me to be open to new possibilities and ready to move at God's leading.

But first, I needed a nap. Lol It sounds simple, but after a long stretch of intense project work, my body made it clear in no uncertain terms that it was time to rest. I checked my calendar and guess what?

Months before I had built in a few light weeks to finish marketing material for the advocacy phase of a major project, with lots of days of rest to recover.

When I looked at my schedule the relief I felt was immense. I could have slower mornings, less full days, and flexibility to focus on the business instead of delivery.

The power of planning showed itself - again.

Not the perfection of planning or the rigidness of planning. The power of it.

The power to consider your future self and make plans that honor your capacity now and later.

The power to decide to design (or redesign) a business that gives you margin.

The power to embrace seasons of intensity and seasons of ease.

It was a perfect example of God's instruction to consider what it will require of you to reach your goal before you begin to build (Luke 14:28). This is where He guides us in operating in the grace of seasons.

These reminders make it clear everything will not happen at once; our job is to steward and lead ourselves well so that we can lead our businesses well.

Before I even started to write, this principle from the planner had found me - again. Right when I needed it and it gave me peace. There's no pressure to make this the perfect third quarter. There is a grace to make it an aligned one. And that is something I can do.

There's still time to join me for the first Plan With Me experience. If you want to plan in community, have real time feedback on how to use the planner, and designated time to check in and focus on your business - this is for you. Click here for more information and join us.

Thank you for continuing to trust me as a partner on your CEO journey. I’m looking forward to connecting deeper this year as we find new ways to Live + Lead Well.

That's all for now, but if you need anything before my next message, remember I'm always one email away.

With Joy In Purpose,

Dr. Lorin R. Carter

Perfection Wasn't the Goal

The last several months have reminded me that a plan is not only useful when everything goes as hoped. It's crucial in helping you return to center when life knocks you off track. Earlier this year
