Don't Forget to Bring "You" to the Table
A reminder to bring what makes you "you" to your work.
Now this isn't a blog about bringing your "authentic self" to work. That's another conversation for another time. This is about making sure you show up in your work.
I mean your personality. Your perspective. Your sense of humor. Your creativity. Your unique way of connecting. You.
Somewhere between making sure we show up in excellence, realizing the weight and importance of what we do, the responsibility of guiding a business, deadlines, and how we think we should show up, we can engineer and strategize ourselves right out of the work.
Cue the feelings of drudgery. Frustration. Disassociation from ourselves and what we are called to do.
The beautiful thing is that our diligence created the problem, which means that our intention can fix it.
We can lay down the weight of perfection and show up as ourselves. We can let go of how we think it should look and introduce our own unique spin— which is likely the reason our clients hired us in the first place.
We can give ourselves grace to do it our way—in excellence, not sameness.
Bring your expertise to the table. Bring your education. Bring your uniqe experience. But, please, don't forget to bring you too.
